Lauren Dove is a professional singer specialising in blues, soul, gospel and jazz. Lauren can usually be found performing alongside fellow blues companion Mark Howes as Dove and Boweevil with whom she has gigged extensively across the UK and worldwide. Lauren has a BA Hons in Music where she studied jazz vocals and completed a PG Cert Dip in Vocal Pedagogy in conjunction with the University of Cardiff and Voice Workshop on 2017.
Lauren is both performer, teacher and songwriter. Her second album 'This Life' with The Dove and Boweevil Band have had been widely acknowledged across the UK with the album reaching number two in the IBBA album charts, radio play on Radio 2, album of the week on BBC Radio London's Robert Elms show, best album and best song finalists in the British Blues Awards 2016 and inspiringly was a finalist in the 'Best song for Innovation' on Blues and Soul Show FM.
With a wealth of experience performing at festivals across the country including Norwich Arts Centre, Play House, London's Jazz Cafe, La Scala, Maryport Blues Festival, Latitude, The V & A Museum and London's Southbank Centre.
From acoustic blues, powerful soul, jazz or classical she also leads fun and inspiring singing workshops and offers private tuition.
Facinated by the workings of the voice Lauren was taught to sing with Richard Charlton. With an indepth knowledge of vocal mechanics she has endevoured to teach and encourage students across East Anglia, both one to one and by leading singing workshops. After graduating in a Music BA hons Degree at the Colchester Institute she then went on to study Gospel, Soul and Jazz under Mike King at Goldsmith's University in London and has pursued her career in singing ever since.
In 2009 she took a three month sabbatical and worked in the Gospel tent of the New Orleans Jazz Festival where she also attended a masterclass with singer and Queen of Gospel, Mavis Staples. She then went on to perform in Austin TX, Nashville, becoming a finalist for a singer songwriting competition in Atlanta as well as performing in the blues clubs Chicago.
In 2011, having worked with the Norfolk Music Service for several years she then went on to further her learning and pursued study in London completing a course in Opera at City Lit in 2012 and has also obtained a certificate in choral conducting with CME in 2013.
